Goodbye old friend.
We said goodbye to an old "friend" last week. It was bittersweet. I was ready to see her go and had complained openly about her reliability, but when there's a long history in a relationship you still need a little bit of an adjustment period...
Say goodbye to the car that I've been driving since I was 15. I learned to drive in this car, and have driven it for 11 1/2 years. This year would have been 12. But it's gone to a good home. An older man bought it for his teenage granddaughter to drive. Let's face it, that's where this car is meant to be--in the hands of someone who will probably wreck it.

Of course this is way over due. Here are some updates:
A huge storm ripped through Middle Tennessee last night. It bypassed downtown, mostly, and hit the counties between Nashville and Memphis the worst. Here are photos from the Tennessean. The storm hit Jackson, TN collapsing buildings on the campus of Union University and trapping eight students. We and our house are fine--just some tree limbs down around us. My co-worker said that she looked out the window this morning to see a 100-year-old oak pulled up by its roots.
We actually heard the tornado sirens at Vanderbilt University from our house in East Nashville (about 8 miles away).
We don't have a basement, but our friends down the street have a huge one, so we have a place to ride out the next storm.
We are fine, but please keep the folks in Jackson and Fairview, TN in your thoughts after 24 people died in the tornadoes.
